Firepits & BBQ Tables

The Kiwi Backyard isn’t complete without a BBQ, and outdoor dining isn’t complete without the right furniture setting.

My issue was, we wanted a robust setting that would last for years outside with a minimal of maintenance, one that was suitable for both home and council use at reserves.

The resulting unit is super-heavy duty and comprises a Central Gabion base and four Gabion Pillars. These are located then dyna-bolted down and filled with appropriate boulders; Greywacke for our Canterbury Plains is ideal while Schist makes a beautiful filling for the Southern Lakes or West Coast. The seat and top are machined down from Macrocarpa, tongue and grooved and with end plates on to reduce the chance of movement in the timber. All steel work is hot dip galvanised. And it seats 10!!

Our Firepits are not allowed under ECANZ Rules in our townships, but we build them for you to use where appropriate. Our open top Firepit has travelled to both East and West Coast beaches with us when we’ve been surfcasting, and has been magic for the toasted Marshmallows, Pots of Perk Coffee and Roast Sausages cooked while out there.
